Tocal Homestead Excursion

Stage One students had a fabulous time at Tocal Homestead last Thursday and Friday. It was a beautiful setting at Paterson where students could do activities that depicted life 150 years ago!

The activities were washing clothes using a soap and washing board, dress ups, games such as knuckles, hoopla, tug o war and wooden hoops, using a horse -plough to generate power and visiting the homestead to see how people lived.

Students were taught how to set the table correctly using the finest cutlery! They also listened to a gramophone and visited the kitchen to learn about how people prepared food. It certainly highlighted how differently people lived in the past. The staff at Tocal were really impressed with the questions students asked which showed  their critical thinking skills.

We are very appreciative of all the parents and carers who assisted on the day. Your valuable contribution ensured  the day was a success.
