Tocal Homestead Excursion

Stage One students had a fabulous time at Tocal Homestead last Thursday and Friday. It was a beautiful setting at Paterson where students could do activities that depicted life 150 years ago!

The activities were washing clothes using a soap and washing board, dress ups, games such as knuckles, hoopla, tug o war and wooden hoops, using a horse -plough to generate power and visiting the homestead to see how people lived.

Students were taught how to set the table correctly using the finest cutlery! They also listened to a gramophone and visited the kitchen to learn about how people prepared food. It certainly highlighted how differently people lived in the past. The staff at Tocal were really impressed with the questions students asked which showed  their critical thinking skills.

We are very appreciative of all the parents and carers who assisted on the day. Your valuable contribution ensured  the day was a success.

Waste Free Wednesday

Each Wednesday, Belair students are reducing their waste to landfill. Students are encouraged to pack their lunches without plastic or lunch wrappings and all rubbish on the day is put in special containers for recyclable waste. It is great to see students are changing their habits and packing their lunch, recess and fresh break in containers without any plastic. Great work Belair students!

Onesie Day!

Last Friday, Belair students and staff came dressed to school in a onesie or one of something such as a sock or glove. This was done so we could raise money for Type One Diabetes. Everyone looked so cute and students really embraced the cause, showing what a generous and caring community we are.
